Marie-Claire and Francis Wild will welcome you to their “gîte rural de La Madière”, situated 4 km north of the village of Puylaurens in a preserved countryside amongst farmlands and woodlands. The surrounding hillsides offer many lovely viewpoints on the neighbouring landscapes and the more distant mountains i.e. Montagne Noire and the Pyrenees, weather permitting.
The 18th century farmhouse was rebuilt in the 19th century in the Toulouse regional style to become a gentleman farmer’s house. It is surrounded by a 1 hectare park and garden in which you will find flowers, lawns, a kitchen garden and an orchard with a large variety of fruit trees. You can also admire the mature trees in the park like oaks, horse-chestnuts, lime, acacias, some of which are 200 years old or more.
The property is a declared LPO bird sanctuary welcoming a large variety of birds during the nesting season and also throughout the year. A large number of wild flowers including wild orchids can be observed in the park and garden and the neighbouring countryside.
The gite has two terraces one on the north side, shaded, and the other south facing, both with views on the garden and park. A mobile barbecue, table tennis and badminton equipment are available for use outside as well as “petanque” (French bowls) to be played on the driveway.
The gite is part of the owner’s house on the end wing and is totally independent with its own access, entry and car park.
